General idea of the type of questions asked on the test
Most times you will be presented with at least three (3) question types:
1. Recall questions- These questions will ask you to be able to recall important information based on facts and theories.
2. Application questions- These questions will ask you to use the information recalled and actually apply it to an any given situation. These questions are not only about what you learned but how well can you apply this information overall.
3. Reasoning questions- These questions will ask you to use the information recalled and then use critical thinking and independent judgement to determine the correct answer. You want to be sure to focus on the facts and key words provided in the question stem to help with these questions.
You must use clinical judgment, best practice, and relevant information provided in the question stem.
Everything you need to answer the question is usually provided in the question and the question stem.
Use the process of elimination to get rid of any answers that are distractors, incorrect, inappropriate, contradictory, too generic, unethical, and do not relate to the question stem or information provided.
Remember that you will only need to focus on what the question is asking, do not focus on your personal or professional experience when answering these questions.
